Claire Warne (she/her) is a long time social equity advocate and cannabis industry leader whose passion for social justice has guided a dynamic career path from Chicago’s vibrant hospitality industry to the forefront of the legal cannabis industry. With a bachelor’s degree in social work, Claire spent her early professional years fighting for social justice across the country working for organizations out of California, Georgia, D.C. and her hometown Chicago. Simultaneously, Claire discovered a unique outlet for her passion for community engagement, social justice and hospitality, immersing herself in event management and production-driven by her commitment to uplift and support individuals impacted by the war on drugs. As a proud Chicagoan, she understands firsthand how systemic inequities can ripple through communities, inspiring her dedication to create opportunities for those too often left behind.
In 2020, Claire joined Ascend Wellness as an HR professional, where her vivacious spirit and people-first philosophy quickly made an impact. Two years later, she transitioned into the company’s Social Equity department, blending her expertise in policy advocacy, mentorship, and program management to design and implement initiatives that empower women, people of color, and minority entrepreneurs. Her work doesn’t just open doors—it dismantles barriers, ensuring that individuals from historically marginalized backgrounds can thrive in the burgeoning cannabis marketplace.
Beyond her corporate roles, Claire brings a personal perspective to her professional mission. As a medical cannabis patient for over seven years, she has experienced the healing properties of the plant, fueling her dedication to cannabis education and patient advocacy. Whether leading a workshop on equitable licensing or mentoring the next generation of industry trailblazers, Claire infuses every project with positivity, compassion, and a fierce drive for systemic change.
